Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate are the wildfire risk scores?
Our risk scores are derived from USFS Wildfire Risk to Communities, CAL FIRE FRAP Fire Hazard Severity Zones, and FEMA National Risk Index data. They represent probabilistic estimates based on historical fire behavior, vegetation, weather patterns, and terrain. A high risk score means the area has elevated wildfire probability -- it does not guarantee a specific property will be impacted.
What is the hardening ROI model?
The ROI model calculates the cost-benefit of individual home hardening measures (ember-resistant vents, Class A roofing, defensible space, etc.) based on IBHS research on measure effectiveness, local contractor costs indexed to CPI, and estimated insurance premium reductions. It shows you which investments deliver the highest return.
Can I compare two counties?
Yes. Buyer Pack and above include side-by-side county comparison with risk scores, hardening costs, and a recommendation for which location carries less long-term wildfire financial risk.
What happens if I exceed my limits?
Free users get 1 lookup per day. Paid plans have monthly report limits. If you hit your limit, you can upgrade or wait for the next billing cycle. API users receive a 429 response with a Retry-After header.
What is your refund policy?
